Virginia Myrl Laws, 93

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Virginia Myrl Laws, 93, of Smelterville, Idaho, passed away April 3, 2017 at the Schneidmiller House of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.  She was born October 16, 1923 in Farmington, Washington; Virginia was the daughter of Maitland and Gladys (Krous) Balser.

Virginia attended and graduated from the Rose Lake High School of Rose Lake, Idaho in 1942.  She married Aaron “Rich” Laws on January 30, 1946 in Dixon, Montana.  Virginia and Rich moved to the Silver Valley in 1948.

Virginia had served as a clerical aide at the Silver King School for many years, before she retired.

Virginia was a member of the Silver King Needle Craft Club for many years.  She so loved and enjoyed her family, gardening, playing cards and traveling.  Virginia made wonderful pies, preserves, pickles and jams from the fruits and vegetables from her wonderful garden.  Virginia traveled with her beloved husband Rich, throughout the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska.  She also traveled with him to Navy reunions, visiting with Rich’s WW II Navy buddies and their spouses.  Virginia also enjoyed family trips and vacations with her daughters.

Virginia is survived by two daughters Janna and Peter Herdt of Pocatello, Idaho; Lisa and Randy Eaton of Spokane Valley, Washington; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters Elaine Richardson of Nampa, Idaho and Nita Vold of Sprague, Washington; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rich- who passed away in 2012 and one daughter Richelle Crumm.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg, Idaho with family officiating.

Virginia was a very loving, giving, hard-working and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend; she was a wonderful example to all.  She will be so dearly missed by family and friends.  When Virginia fell ill, she was asked what she would like to see or do and she responded by saying “I cannot think of anything.”  A life well lived.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 Government Way, Hayden, Idaho 83835, or to any Senior Citizen Group or Senior Activities, or to the charity of the Donor’s choice.
