Buf McDaniel, beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa went to sleep on August 3, 2011, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 21, 1933 at Binger, Oklahoma.
Buf came to Idaho from California in 1959 and liked it so much, he decided to stay. He met his wife Ruby and they married in May of 1963. They made their home in Rose Lake, blended their families and obtained their earthly goals in life together.
Buf worked at the Bunker Hill Mining Company for a brief time; he then worked on the County river dredge and finally spent twenty-six years as an equipment operator for the East Side Highway District. In 1990, after an injury at work, he retired and spent his time taking care of the home chores, traveling some, and enjoying his family, home and life. Buf loved sitting on the patio with his wife, watching the scenery and talking about their life experiences. He also loved for people to stop by their home and visit.
Buf was a truly devoted family man who sacrificed much over many years. He was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and his church family. In 2005, Buf was baptized and became a member of the Osburn Seventh Day Adventist Church, serving as an elder over the past several years. He loved having the church family over for potluck and homemade ice cream. In turn, his church family loved and appreciated his quiet, steadfast devotion to God and to each of them.
Buf is survived by his wife Ruby of the family home of Rose Lake, Idaho; one daughter Connie Seymore; two sons and daughter-in-laws Ron and Karen Acre and Dave and Kathy McDaniel all of Rose Lake; three brothers Red McDaniel of Rose Lake, Mac McDaniel of Medimont, Idaho and Pat McDaniel of Wardner, Idaho; one sister Carol Lamb of Arizona; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Osburn Seventh Day Adventist Church of Osburn, Idaho. Interment will be held at the Rose Lake Cemetery of Rose Lake, Idaho, where he will await the soon return of Jesus. A potluck reception will follow graveside services at the family home; everyone is welcome.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Restoration House, 809 E. Mullan Ave., Osburn, Idaho 83849 or to the Cancer Resource Center, 204 Oregon Street, Kellogg Idaho 83837.
