Dorothy Arlene Simpson, 75, of Clarkston, Washington (formerly of Kingston, Idaho), passed away November 9, 2011 at the Avalon Progressive Care of Clarkston. She was born October 5, 1936 at Wardner, Idaho; Dorothy was the daughter of Clifton and Veryl (Callahan) Flatt.
Dorothy attended and graduated from the Kingston High School of Kingston, Idaho. She had lived in the Silver Valley for most of her life.
Dorothy married Cleo Bailey in April of 1953; Cleo passed away on April 4, 1978. She then married Donald Simpson on February 2, 1979; Donald passed away December 2, 2008.
Dorothy served in the hospitality business for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kellogg, Idaho. Dorothy loved and enjoyed her family, cooking, crossword puzzles, camping and the outdoors.
Dorothy is survived by five children Bill Bailey of Kingston, Idaho, Barbara Swearingen of Clarkston, Washington, Connie Bailey of Post Falls, Idaho, Karen Parsons of Clarkston, Washington and Jack Bailey of Osburn, Idaho; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers Kenneth Flatt of Boise, Idaho and Leonard Flatt of Osburn, Idaho; two sisters Alma Bell of Osburn, Idaho and Lorraine Navis of Caldwell, Idaho; she was preceded in death by her parents Clifton and Veryl Flatt; one brother David Flatt; one sister Donna Auer and one grandson Stoker Bailey.
Cremation was held and Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Kellogg, Idaho with Rev. Sergio Rivera officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg, Idaho.
The family suggests that memorial may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th floor, New York, NY. 10001.
