Earl Leroy Cahoon, 74, of Pinecreek- Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away September 7, 2011 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg, Idaho. He was born May 3, 1937 at Charlo, Montana; Earl was the son of Renolds Fielding and Thelma Mildred (Smith) Cahoon.
Earl served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Earl married Vivian Bisson on August 28, 1963 at Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
Earl first moved to the Silver Valley in 1963 from Montana. He then traveled to various states serving as a miner, moving back to the Silver Valley in 1971.
Earl was a contract miner and had mined at the Sunshine Mine for thirty-one years. He had also served as a miner in the states of California, Arizona, Montana and Washington.
Earl was a member of the Kellogg Elks #1841 and a member of the Steelworkers Union.
Earl loved and enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, roasting pig for barbeques, football games, telling jokes and texas holdem’ poker; he also loved horses and going on trail rides. Earl enjoyed spending time with his friends and he would do anything for anyone; he was loved by many.
Earl is survived by his beloved wife of forty-eight years Vivian Cahoon of the family home of Pinecreek- Pinehurst, Idaho; three children Gail Cahoon of Puyallup, Washington, Lisa and her husband Frank Bittner of Covington, Washington and Charles Cahoon of Pablo, Montana; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his mother Thelma Cahoon of Pinecreek-Pinehurst, Idaho; one brother Francis Cahoon of St. Ignatius, Montana; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Earl was preceded in death by his father, one daughter Lois Ann Cahoon, one brother Gene Cahoon and two sisters Ruth Quaring and Lois Gruber.
Cremation was held and Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg, Idaho. A potluck reception for family and friends will be held at the Pinecreek Tavern following services; everyone is welcome.

Vivan, Gail, Charley, and Lisa. So Sorry for your loss. Earl was a hard working, fun loving guy who never knew a stranger. He lived his life to the fullist. He dearly loved his wife and children and was always there to help anyone in need. I will always remember our cutting lodge poles and our fishing trip to Westport.
