Maurice "Lefty" Edward Amsden

Maurice “Lefty” Edward Amsden, 81, of Osburn, Idaho passed away September 28, 2011 at the family home of Osburn. He was born June 14, 1930 at Sisseton, South Dakota; Lefty was the son of Charles and Winnie (Werden) Amsden.

Lefty grew up in Groton, South Dakota. He then moved to Yakima, Washington before moving to the Silver Valley.

Lefty married Arlene Lambott on August 16, 1999 at Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.

Lefty had served as a miner and a shift boss for several mines throughout the Silver Valley, but had mainly worked for ASARCO.

Lefty was a member of the Shoshone County Sportsman Association and he loved and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and the outdoors.

Lefty is survived by his wife Arlene Amsden of the family home of Osburn, Idaho; numerous sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Lefty was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers.

Cremation was held and upon his request, no memorial services will be held. Inurnment will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery of Mullan, Idaho.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Shoshone County Sportsman Assoc., The Gleaning Program, P.O. Box 401 Kingston, Idaho 83839.

I worked with lefty at the Coeur Mine. He was one great guy. I'm glad I got to know him. I would see him at the post office in recent years and enjoyed talking to him. I will miss seeing him. Maurice (Lefty) Amsden was one great guy. -- Wid deSimas

He used to stop in and have coffee with me at NAPA nearly every morning and swap hunting stories. Only got to know him for a few weeks and we were "old friends". I'll miss you buddy and my grandkids will hear your stories. I'll see you again someday. -- KC Duncan
