Mildred “June” Orton, 80, of Wallace, Idaho, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2011 at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan of Silverton, Idaho, surrounded by her family. She was born October 14, 1930 at Ouray, Colorado; June was the daughter of Commodore Ervin and Dorothy Angie (Abeln) Wolfe.
June attended and graduated from High School in Silverton, Colorado. She attended and graduated from the St. Lukes School of Nursing of Spokane, Washington.
June married Richard “Dick” Frank Orton on January 19, 1945 at Silverton, Colorado. They moved to Burke, Idaho in 1952.
June’s family came first in her life; and then she enjoyed her nursing career. June had served as a registered nurse at the Wallace Hospital, the Providence Hospital of Wallace, for Dr. William Dire, Sr. and for the Silver Wood Good Samaritan of Silverton. She served as a nurse for twenty-five years before her retirement.
June was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wallace; a member of the Wallace Seniors; she also served for many years as a volunteer at the Wallace Visitor’s Center for the Historic Wallace Chamber of Commerce and for the Silver Wood Good Samaritan. June was honored as the Historic Wallace Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year in 2008; she was also honored as Volunteer of the Year at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan.
June with her family, loved and enjoyed camping boating and bowling and she and Dick also enjoyed dancing throughout their life together.
June is survived by as she had quoted “her greatest accomplishment in life and her pride and joy”, her four sons Roy Duane and his wife Kathy Orton of Mesa, Arizona, Richard Frank and his wife Jane Orton, Jr. of Meridian, Idaho, Larry Lynn and his wife Debbie Orton of Albany, Oregon and Clayton King and his wife Theresa Orton of Wallace, Idaho; June is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters Joan Audie of Spokane, Washington and Emogene Davidson of Spokane, Washington; several nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard (Dick) in 1997 and a daughter Marcia Angie at three months of age in 1953.
Cremation was held and memorial services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church of Wallace, Idaho with Rev. Bill Keenan officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Nine Mile Cemetery of Wallace, Idaho.

My thoughts and condolences go out to the orton family as you have lost a truly special lady. I will always remember the long talks we had over holidays about history and what it was like "back in the day!" I will cherish every moment I had with her and she will be surely missed.
