Ray “Harvey” Wise, 75, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away February 15, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Medical Center of Spokane, Washington. He was born on August 21, 1936, in a log cabin near Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Harvey was the son of Raymond “Earl” and Frieda Isabele (Lick) Wise. Harvey attended grade school in a one room school house near Glenwood Springs; he attended High School in Grand Junction Colorado. When Harvey was a senior, he moved to the Silver Valley and attended and graduated with the last graduating class of the Kingston High School of Kingston, Idaho in 1955. After graduation, Harvey moved back to Leadville, Colorado, where he met his beloved wife Betty Jackson. Harvey and Betty were married on June 8, 1957 at Leadville. Harvey first worked at Climax Moly-b-denum of Colorado as a first class welder. He and Betty moved to Idaho in 1959, where he worked at the Bear Creek Saw Mill. Then in 1965, Harvey and his brother Otis started a logging company; they logged all over Idaho, Montana and Washington. Some people stated Harvey was like a mountain goat, because of his stamina and agility in the woods. Later, Harvey served with the Operating Engineers Union and worked at the Bunker Hill Superfund Site as well as, construction work in other union jobs in Idaho and Washington. Harvey was a member of the Operating Engineers Union, a member of the Association of Logging Contractors, a member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg, Idaho. His family was everything to him, especially his grandchildren. Harvey also loved and enjoyed the outdoors- camping, fishing prospecting and hunting. He also loved chess, solitaire, board games and he was also a good athlete and an excellent skier. Harvey was an easy-going and caring person, who loved people and people loved him. Harvey is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Betty Wise of the family home of Pinehurst, Idaho; two children Renee’ Faleen Wise Walters and her husband Steven of Deer Park, Washington, Robert Charles and his wife Heidi Wise of Pinehurst, Idaho; six grandchildren Steven, Chuck and Mike Walters, John Wise, David and Gini Martin; two great-grandchildren Daniel and Taylin Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Cremation was held and Memorial Services will be held at the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg, Idaho on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Tom Loucks officiating. There will be a reception and a gathering of Family and Friends at the Church Parish Center following services. The Family suggests that memorials may be made to the St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 27 Kellogg Ave. Kellogg, Idaho 83837.
