Robert “Bob” Ward Douglas, Sr., 83, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away February 10, 2012 at the Kootenai Medical Center of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He was born February 18, 1928 at Walla Walla, Washington; Bob was the son of Rev. Charles and Elizabeth (Beeman) Douglas.

Bob attended schools in Yakima, Washington. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II. Bob married Betty Schwartz on November 26, 1948 at Yakima, Washington.

Bob and Betty moved to the Silver Valley in 1952 from Odessa, Washington. They founded and were owners and operators of the Kellogg Moving and Storage of Kellogg, Idaho; Bob and Betty retired in 1989 and started their retirement years by spending their winters in Arizona, which they loved and enjoyed. Their sons Terry and Bobby Douglas, continued with ownership and operation of the family business. Bobby passed away and today, Terry continues to own and operate this business.

Bob was a member of the Kellogg Rotary Club; a member of the Kellogg Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Mountain View Congregational Church of Kellogg and a member of the Pinehurst Country Club. Bob had also served as a Kellogg Reserve Police Officer and had served on the Kellogg School District School Board; during his term on the school board, the Kellogg Middle School had been built. Bob loved and enjoyed his family, stain glass work, model trains, fishing, spending winters in Arizona and his beloved Boston Terrier dogs.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife Betty of 63 years of the family home of Pinehurst, Idaho; three children Kathy and her husband Jim Apthorp of Surprise, Arizona, Terry Douglas and his companion Karla Zufelt of Kellogg, Idaho and Rick Douglas of Spokane, Washington; four grandchildren Marti and her husband Ethan Kast, Tiffney Hojem, Jennilee Mellen (who was born on her Grandpa’s birthday) and Derrick Douglas; five great-grandchildren Joslyn Hojem, Macy Hojem, Liberty Kast (who was born on her Great-Grandpa’s birthday), Toby Kast and Russell Kast; Bob is also survived by one nephew and one niece; he was preceded in death by his parents, one son Bobby Douglas, Jr., one grandson Danny Day, one brother and two sisters.

Cremation was held and Memorial Services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012, at 11:00 A.M., at the Mountain View Congregational Church of Kellogg, Idaho (formerly the United Church Of Kellogg) with Rev. David Langer officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Church Fellowship Hall following services. Inurnment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg, Idaho.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Shoshone Pet Rescue P.O. Box 884, Kellogg, Idaho 83837 or to the charity of the Donor’s choice.
