-
October 14, 2011

Virginia Verna Rivers, 90, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away October 14, 2011 at the family home of Pinehurst. She was born October 3, 1921 at Letha, Idaho; Virginia was the daughter of George and Bessie (Frint) Humphreys.

Virginia attended and graduated from the Emmett High School of Emmett, Idaho. She then attended college in Boise.

Virginia married George Rivers on May 18, 1940 at Emmett, Idaho; George passed away in April of 2002.

After WW II, Virginia was a member of the Ground Observer Corps Aircraft Warning Services through the U.S. Air Force Air Defense Command.

Virginia moved to the Silver Valley in 1955 from Montour, Idaho. Virginia was a homemaker and a mother. She had also served as a waitress for several Silver Valley restaurants, mainly the Sunshine Inn of Kellogg. Virginia had also served as a clerk at the J.C. Penney’s store. During her retired years, Virginia and her husband George volunteered at the West Shoshone Hospital of Kellogg. Virginia was a member of the Silver Valley Worship Center of Smelterville.

Virginia was a loving mother to her three daughters Gloria M. Rivers of Pinehurst, Idaho, Virginia Jayne Robinson of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and Jeanne L. Amersfoort of Pinehurst, Idaho; she was a beloved grandmother to Michael Breazeal, Tyrone Amersfoort, Lisa Breazeal, Karla Gunby, Denise O’Connell and Ramona Byram; a great-grandmother to Brad Amersfoort, Rachel Sexton, Elijah Ross, Lillian Lindsay, Bryce Byram, Jordan Byram, Reagan Byram and Patrick O’Connell; Virginia is also survived by four sisters Helen Crone, Esther Radar, Velma Rinearson and Georgia Randell; two brothers Wallace Humphreys and Paul Humphreys; numerous nieces and nephews; she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Rivers, two grandchildren Michael Breazeal and Lisa Breazeal, one great-grandson Patrick O’Connell and one sister June Dunn.

Virginia was a vivacious and quick thinking, interesting woman. She loved life and was exciting to be around. She made an everyday event seem like a party. Her children remember her making house work choirs not only challenging, but also an amusing, light-hearted experience. Virginia was a deeply devoted Christian and passed on her beliefs to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her belief of living life to the fullest, even in here retirement years, was contagious. She will be missed immensely by family and friends and her memory will live on. The memory of the way she lived her life will continue to inspire her friends and family who truly knew her.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hunt Cemetery of Kingston, Idaho with Rev. Ernest Amersfoort officiating.

The family suggests that memorials may be sent to the Hunt Cemetery P.O. Box 722 Pinehurst, Idaho 83850.
