Wayne Lewis Jacobs, 86, passed away November 24, 2011 surrounded by his family, at his home in Kellogg, Idaho. Wayne was born September 17, 1925 in Genesee, Idaho. Wayne was the son of Frank and Christina (Broemeling) Jacobs.
Wayne attended and graduated from Genesee High School in 1945. Wayne had worked as a farm hand in Genesee before moving to Idaho’s Silver Valley in 1956. There he worked in maintenance for the Kellogg School District, and also as a truck driver for the City of Kellogg.
Wayne was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst, Idaho, and a long time member of the local bowling club.
Wayne loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, picking mushrooms, and huckleberries, fishing and line dancing.
Wayne is survived by 3 children Doug and his wife Marcia Jacobs of Moscow, Idaho, Peg and her husband Max Birdsell of Cocolalla, Idaho, and Dale and his wife Kelly of Kellogg, Idaho; 2 brothers Bob Jacobs of Moscow, Idaho, and Ray and his wife Penny Jacobs of Marysville, Washington; 1 sister Virginia Jones of Bonnie Lake, Washington; 7 grandchildren Evan, Max, Wayne, Frank, Morgan, Britney, and Taylor; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Cremation was held and a memorial service will be held Saturday December 3rd, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Mt. View Congregational Church (formally the United Church of Kellogg) with pastor Ken Bartle Officiating. Inurnment will be at the Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Genesee, Idaho at a later date.
