Beatrice “Bea” Ann Schreiber, 76, of Spokane, Washington, and formerly of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, at Riverview Memory Care in Spokane.
Bea was born on March 30, 1949, in Kellogg, Idaho, the youngest daughter of Carroll Nutting Chaffee and Joyce Agnes (Stubbs) Chaffee. She graduated from Kellogg High School with the Class of 1967. Kellogg remained home throughout most of her life.
Bea married her high school sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Schreiber. They shared 57 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, hard work, faith, and family. Together, Bea and Dick raised five children and were partners in both life and business, successfully running a catering business, bakery, and restaurant for many years. Later, Bea managed an optometrist’s office for more than a decade, a role that reflected her natural care for others and attention to detail.
A committed Catholic and longtime member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg, Bea’s faith guided her decisions and her daily life.
Creative, playful, and endlessly curious, Bea encouraged her children to explore life fully. She delighted in discovering places off the beaten path, finding unexpected treasures, and enjoying simple moments—like a bowl of fruit at the lake’s edge in the mornings when the water was the most calm and peaceful.
In retirement, Bea cherished traveling with Dick and dear friends Mark and Wanda, wintering in Yuma, Arizona, and summering at Lake Coeur d’Alene. She filled these seasons with long walks, exploring new places, and taking in all life had to offer.
Above all, Bea was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a woman whose care for others touched everyone she met.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Joyce Chaffee, brother Richard Chaffee, and son Thaddeus “Thad” Schreiber.
She is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick” Schreiber; her children, Marci, Brenda (Doerschel), Stephanie, Erica, and Jake; her grandchildren, Derek Doerschel, Alex Doerschel, Devon Schreiber, and Zach Schreiber; and her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Issac, Aliyah, Olivia, Uriah, Omar, and Eleanor Doerschel. She is also survived by her siblings, Sandy Scott and Joe Chaffee, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 S. Main St., Kellogg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg, with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Private family graveside services will be held at Shoshone Memorial Gardens in Kingston, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause Bea faithfully supported throughout her life.
