Daniel Koskimaki

Daniel “Dan” Matt Koskimaki, 55, of Pinehurst, Idaho passed away on July 12, 2017 at his home in Pinehurst. Dan was born on September 4, 1961 in Norfolk, Virginia; Dan was the son of James and Ann Koskimaki.

Dan grew up in the Silver Valley and lived here all of his life. He attended Kellogg High School in 1979.

Dan was united in marriage to Teresa Sangray on December 7, 2002 at the Hitching Post in Coeur d’Alene.

Dan worked as a miner at the Lucky Friday Mine. He was part of mine rescue and a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local 5114.

He was an avid outdoorsman. Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a jokester and a pain but he would do anything for anyone. He was full of adventure and would leave a story with anyone who met him. He was very loved and will be missed.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa of Pinehurst; his step-children Earnest Ouellett of Kellogg, Andrea Ernst of Coeur d’Alene, Erin (Jacob) Taylor of Post Falls, and Vanita Hallman and her siblings; his numerous grandchildren; his brothers Steve (Misty) Koskimaki of Coeur d’Alene, Gary (Rhonda) Koskimaki of Aurora, Colorado, and Jim (Jeannie) Koskimaki of Pinehurst; his sisters Joan (Elmer) James of Longview, Washington, Nancee (Chuck) Black of Kingman, Arizona and Janice (Dan) Holland of Spokane, Washington. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 11:00 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pinehurst. Viewing will be held on Monday, July 17 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel in Kellogg and one hour before the funeral at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that in lieu of flowers that contributions in Dan’s honor can be made to the United Steelworkers Union Local 5114.
