Dorothy Louella Johnson, 95, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of Kellogg, ID, passed away on June 19, 2023 at Silverton Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia, Silverton, ID. Dorothy was born on December 26, 1927 in Republic, WA, a daughter of the late John and Margie (Hartshorn) Rowley.
The family moved to the Silver Valley early in Dorothy’s life and she attended Silver King school then graduated from Kellogg High School, Class of 1946. Later, she married Paul E. Johnson on January 26, 1947 in Butte, MT and were married for 25 years. Paul passed away in the Sunshine Mine Fire of 1972 and Dorothy never remarried.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers, listening to music and singing along, crocheting, and working puzzles. Dorothy had also authored several books about her childhood. Above all though, she doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending any time she could with them.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Paul, Dorothy is preceded in death by nine sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include her three daughters, Paula (Ed) Bush of Kellogg, ID, Lynnell Schonewald of Kingston, ID, and Julie (Jeff) Berg of Post Falls, ID; eight grandchildren, Scott (Michelle) Stevenson, Shawn (Erin) Stevenson, Sheldon (Wendy) Stevenson, Steven (Traci) Bush, Thomas Schonewald, Cristopher (Cera) Schonewald, Rob (Jourdyn) Berg, and Kylie (Kris) Leonard; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all whom she loved with all her heart.
At her request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will occur at Shoshone Memorial Gardens, Pinehurst.
