Dorothy Rosella Welling, 95

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Dorothy Rosella Welling, 95, of Mullan, ID, passed away on May 11, 2021 at home with her family by her side. Dorothy was born on December 2, 1925 in Kimball, South Dakota, a daughter of the late Eske and Elsie (Miller) Masher. Dorothy grew up in South Dakota until moving to the Silver Valley with her family at the age of 17.

Dorothy met and married Russell Newell. They later divorced. She later met and married Ray Welling in 1960. Sadly Ray passed away in 1973

Dorothy worked at The Laundry in Wallace for many years while also raising her three children. She was very active in the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening and picking raspberries. She also was an animal lover and enjoyed horseback riding and was a member of the Silver Valley Riders Club. Dorothy loved her family dearly and was very proud of being the eldest of five generations.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Ernest (Janet) Newell, Charles Newell, Joseph Welling and Loretta Rae (Bob) Thatcher. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, twin brother Wilburn Boyer and siblings Evelyn Zingler and Arlee Boyer.

Per Dorothy’s wishes cremation will take place and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
