It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle, Doug Burmeister. He passed peacefully on October 22, 2025 at the Schneidmiller House in Hayden, ID with family by his side. Doug was born on August 24, 1944 in Hutchinson, KS to Harry and Donna Burmeister. He attended school in Osburn and Wallace. After school, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served his country for three years then returned to Wallace where he married DeLoris (Sis) Fuller. Doug and Sis had two daughters and then later divorced. Doug married Gloria Blickenstaff in 1989 and gained 2 stepchildren.

Doug was involved in owning and leasing many businesses throughout the Silver Valley – Albi’s Alleys, Bedroom Goldmine, Kellogg Golf and Country Club. He then went to work at Sunshine Mine where he held many different positions in his 27-year tenure. He retired from Sunshine Mine in 2002 and purchased the Wayside Market in Smelterville, ID. He sold the market and retired again in 2016.

Doug enjoyed camping, socializing at the Elks and Inland Lounge, but most of all he loved watching his grandchildren play sports and never missed a chance to brag about his family.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Burmeister; father, Harry Burmeister; and sister, Marilyn Armour.

Doug is survived by his brothers, Mark (Kristenah) Burmeister and Chris Burmeister; sisters, Jan Burks and Debbie (Phil) Batchelder; wife, Gloria Burmeister, the mother of his children, Sis Burmeister; daughters, Deanna (Jeff) Nearing & Dusti (Jon Koepl) Burmeister; stepson, George (Sena) Blickenstaff; stepdaughter, Crystal (Curt) Zeller; grandchildren, Grant (Caytlin) Nearing, Graden Nearing, Gracelyn Nearing, Samira Koepl, Bodhi Koepl, Jennifer Zeller, Amy (Bob) Clark, Todd (Kianna) Blickenstaff; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Doug loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He loved his wife, his girls and his life here in the Silver Valley and the friends that supported him over the years. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

At Doug’s request there will be no formal service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memories of Doug and messages of condolence may be shared online with this family at www.shoshonefuneralservice.com. Shoshone Funeral Services of the Silver Valley is assisting the family with arrangements.
