Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Elmer Hogamier, 93, of Silverton, Idaho, passed away January 7, 2015 at Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg. He was born August 7, 1921 in Mount Savage, Maryland; Elmer was the son of Lewis and Mary (Ornduff) Hogamier.
Elmer served two enlistments in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the great depression. Elmer also served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II where he was stationed in Naples, Italy.
In 1946 Elmer was traveling to Alaska and stopped in Wallace, Idaho to visit a friend. He liked the Silver Valley so much he decided to stay and has been a resident ever since.
On August 31st 1950 Elmer was united in marriage to Edna Baskett in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Edna passed away in 1994.
Elmer was a brick mason all his life. He put his last chimney in at the age of 80. He was a life long member of the VFW and The Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers.
Elmer enjoyed going fishing, duck hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed going mushroom hunting and searching for old bottles. Elmer loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elmer is survived by three sons Nick (Linda) Hogamier of Wallace, Idaho, Bill Hogamier of Osburn, Idaho, Ray (Cheri) Hogamier of Wallace, Idaho and daughter Janet (Russ) Edwards of Sagle, Idaho; Seven grandchildren Scott (Sara) Hogamier, Amy (Todd) Reichenberg, Coral Edwards, Billy Hogamier, Shayla (Matt) Macsuga, Krista (Cyle) Hanna and Maryssa Hogamier. Elmer is also survived by four great-grandchildren Madison Hogamier, Hayden Hogamier, Carter Hanna and Keegan Hanna. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Edna and his siblings Harvey, Earl, Fred, Pearl and Virginia.
A celebration of Elmer’s life will be held at a later date.
