Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Eugene Hans Nelson I, 73, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away June 2, 2014 at his home. He was born November 7, 1940 in Wallace, Idaho; Eugene was the son of Eugene Marion and Eva (Eslick) Nelson.
Eugene worked as a miner, logger, and also helped with the completion of the Rails to Trails. He worked at the Crescent Mine where he was known as “Mean Gene the mining machine.”
Eugene was a member of the NRA and Sheriffs posse. In his free time he enjoyed doing oil paintings, fishing, hunting and taxidermy.
On December 2, 1959 Eugene was united in marriage to Mary Pennington. She passed away in 1997. Eugene later married Norma Marmon.
Eugene is survived by; five children Glenda (Ron) Baker, of Eureka, Montana, Brenda (Jim) Stevens, of Hayden, Idaho, Teresa Nelson Lake, of Spokane, Washington, Lisa (Bob) Bowen, of Eureka, Montana, Eugene (Mary) Nelson II, of Livingston, Montana; he is also survived by nine grandchildren Misty (Michael) Osler, Amber (James) Carr, Christopher (Kim) Lake, Sonya Krick, Harley Stevens, Christopher Stevens, Eugene “Boo” Nelson III, Alan Nelson, Melanie Nelson; six great-grandchildren Brooke Osler, Nathan Osler, Austin Osler, Matthew Carr, Jordon Carr, Ilah Carr; he is also survived by three sisters Jeanine (Clyde) Pope, of Missouri, Colleen Baysinger, of California and Voni Lightner, of Idaho. Eugene was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother Neil.
A memorial service will be held for Eugene on Saturday June 7th 2014 at 11:00a.m. at the Pinehurst Community Bible Church (old log cabin church) of Pinehurst, Idaho, with John Bohannon officiating.
