Hogamier
June 23, 1948 – February 28, 2026
Celebration of Life
East Shoshone Park
Starts at 1:00 pm (Pacific time)
Gerald “Nick” Allen Hogamier, 77, of Wallace, Idaho, and a lifelong resident of the Silver Valley, passed away February 28, 2026, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Nick will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to his family and community.
Nick was born June 23, 1948, at the former Providence Hospital in Wallace, a son of the late Elmer and Edna (Baskett) Hogamier. He graduated from Wallace High School with the Class of 1966. On May 10, 1969, he married the love of his life, Linda Vipperman, at the Wallace Methodist Church. Together they shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage before Linda’s passing on September 18, 2018.
In his early years, Nick worked as a miner at the Star Mine. He later served his community as a firefighter with Wallace and Shoshone Fire District 1 for 10 years. He then began a long and dedicated career with the Wallace School District, where he worked as Maintenance Supervisor for more than 30 years.
Nick’s commitment to the Silver Valley extended far beyond his profession. He was a member of the Shoshone Search and Rescue Team for 47 years, serving as a trained scuba diver and Level II Tracker. He also served on the Wallace City Council, taught hunter safety courses for 35 years, and was president of the Sportsman Association. In addition, he was a member of the Lookout Association, the Pottsville 7, and served on the board of the East Shoshone Water District for 29 years.
An avid outdoorsman, Nick embraced all that North Idaho has to offer. He enjoyed hunting, camping, hiking, fishing, and mushroom picking. Above all, he treasured his family and took great pride in being a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His legacy will live on in the many memories shared by those who loved him.
Nick is survived by his two children, Scott (Sara) Hogamier of Osburn, Idaho, and Amy (Todd) Reichenberg of Wild Horse, Nevada; two grandchildren, Madison (Travis) Newell of Mullan, Idaho, and Hayden (Hannah) Hogamier of Mullan; four cherished great-grandchildren, Mille, Svea, Rhodes, and Ridge; two brothers, Bill Hogamier of Osburn and Ray Hogamier of Silverton; one sister, Janet (Russ) Edwards of Sagle; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
A celebration of Nick’s life will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at East Shoshone Park in Mullan, Idaho.
