Obituary

Glory S Carlile, was born on October 10, 1950 in Houston, TX. She passed quickly, quietly & peacefully the evening of May 16, 2026 with her husband, Fred Orth, at her side in Kellogg, ID at Shoshone Medical Center.

A private person, she’d greet you with a smile and hello but didn’t share much of her 8yr fight of illness and dialysis. To really know her, you knew she loved to laugh, to dance, you knew an artist, a poet, someone with a great sense of humor, very witty & blunt, a love for her family & friends, nature, animals, the written word, travel, and long drives.

Adopted at a young age by Maryanne & William Kelley, she completed their family and became the oldest of their 5 children. A few years later, both widows with 5 children, Maryanne & Thomas Lieb blended their families and were miraculously blessed with 3 more children, making her 4th of 13 children.

She lived most her life in San Diego, CA. She attended Our Lady of Grace until transferring to Grossmont High School where she was a straight A student and cheerleader. She graduated in 1968, then enrolling at SDSU as an English Major. She continued her formal education and social service accreditations while raising her family. She had a long work history at SD Youth & Community Services. And always the volunteer! She also made time for friends, volleyball at Grape Street Park, camping and traveling.

She found the Silver Valley in the early 90’s looking for property in MT. She fell in love with the mountains, trees and area making Osburn and then Kellogg, Idaho her new home. She met her husband, Fred Orth, during one of their favorite pastimes, breakfast out! They were blessed with 13 years of marriage and 18 years of friendship. They laughed everyday (one of their vows) and enjoyed the birds and animals that visited her roses and Fred’s yard.

While in Idaho, she worked for the Reiki Alliance, Habitat for Humanity and The Commission Basin before retiring. And always the volunteer! During her time with the Reiki Alliance she was able to continue her love of travel. Some of her favorite destinations being Amsterdam, Germany, Denmark, France and Chile! She even returned to Texas. She took a wonderful trip to Africa as well. Her favorite trips though were long car rides & road trips with her husband, children and grandchildren! A car full of laughter! Her greatest wish was to meet and know her great-grandson. That wish was granted for nearly a year!

Glory is survived by her husband, Fred Orth (Kellogg, ID); her children, Terri Carlile (Coeur d’Alene, ID), Kenny Carlile, Jr. (Scottsdale, AZ), Michael Luma (Tucson, AZ); grandchildren, Macie & Zac Smith (Greenacres, WA), Jasmine Luma (Post Falls, ID); great-grandson Beckham Smith; extended local family Angela Luma; Chad, Rachel, EJ & Ember Meyer. Her siblings Gina Lieb, Bridget (Steve) Swanson, Pat Kelley, Anne (Ed) Kearns, Pete (Annette) Lieb, TC (Donna) Lieb, Simone Malboeuf, Nancy Kosinski, Joan Lieb, Rick Lieb; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Willy Kelley and sister Susan Lieb.

A Remembrance and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at The Beanery starting at 1pm. Friends are invited to join the family. There will be food, drinks and games in her honor.
