Obituary

Gordon Ray Anthis, 79, of Pinehurst, ID, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 29, 2026.

Gordon was born on October 28, 1946 in Princeton, Indiana, a son of Benjamin and Edith Anthis. He graduated from Kellogg High School, Class of 1965 and spent over 17 years working in the Bunker Hill Zinc Plant and 19 years at Silver Valley Labs (SVL), after serving in the United States Army. Gordon was known for his dedication to his work, his love for the outdoors, and unwavering support for his family.

Gordon had a passion for dancing, which he did for 50 plus years, which is how he met his wife. He enjoyed the outdoors and being in the sun. He loved everything from swinging in his hammock in the backyard with an ice cold beer in his hand to walking along the beaches in Hawaii, to hiking the Coeur d’Alene River where enjoyed hunting and camping. Gordan was quiet in nature, but always had a smile and was loved by many. He will be missed deeply.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 24 years, Viola Anthis; his children, Nathen Anthis and Milissa (Anthis) Standley; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Tanner Anthis; and a sister, Vonda Crawford.

Graveside services with military honors will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, 11:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery, Kellogg. A celebration of Gordon’s life will follow the graveside service at Shoshone Funeral Services in Kellogg. All are welcome to attend.
