Kenneth Lewis Mayer

June 7, 1955 — November 21, 2024

Pinehurst, Idaho

Kenneth (Ken) Lewis Mayer passed away on November 21, 2024, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.

Born on June 7, 1955, in Rupert, Idaho, Ken's life was marked by adventure, service, and a deep love for his family. After enduring the loss of his parents at a young age, he moved to Hagerman, New Mexico, where he graduated from high school. He then attended Boise State University, where he earned a degree in Accounting and Finance while proudly representing the Broncos on the football field. He later earned a Master's in Business Administration.

In Boise, Ken met his wife, Cathy. In 1981, they embarked on an adventure by moving to Alaska, raising three sons on the Kenai Peninsula. There, Ken instilled in them a love for the outdoors, sports, and the Alaskan spirit. After 24 years in the Last Frontier, the family relocated to Pinehurst, Idaho, where Ken regularly enjoyed his passions of golfing and snowboarding.

Ken excelled as a Certified Public Accountant and Chief Financial Officer, serving various government, private, and public entities. His most cherished role was at Agrium Alaska (Unocal) Nitrogen Operations. Ken was a devoted community member, volunteering countless hours to organizations such as the Civil Air Patrol, Boys and Girls Clubs, Central Peninsula Hospital Service Area, and was appointed to the Alaska State Board of Public Accountancy.

Ken is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cathy (Beebe) Mayer; his sons Matthew (Heather), Evan (Victoria), and Kenny; his brothers Tony and Rick Mayer, and sisters Margaret Herzog and Mary Castronova. He was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Edna Mayer, sister Dolores Sieg, and brother Russ Mayer.

Four months ago, Ken was blessed with a grandson, a source of immense joy during his final days.
