Lowan Olive Smith, 89, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on January 16, 2024 at Pacifica of Pinehurst in Pinehurst, ID, where she had resided for a number of years. Lowan was born on January 1, 1935 in Watertown, SD a daughter of Harry Noecker and Olive (Nord) Noecker.

Lowan attended schools in Watertown, SD and later married James Smith on February 20, 1953 in Coeur d’Alene, ID.  She was a stay at home mom and raised her children, Debbie, Scott, and Lori. She enjoyed life, especially spending time with family, friends, as well as playing bridge and golf.

In addition to her parents, and husband, James. Lowan is preceded in death by her sisters, Delaine and Marlene; and a brother, Loyal.

Survivors include her children, Debbie (Wayne) Kovash of Post Falls, ID, Scott (Gail) Smith of Post Falls, ID, and Lori (Dennis) Gerger of Grants Pass, OR; grandchildren, Angela Edminster, Tyson Kovash, Cory Smith, Megan Kucera, Diane Scott, Elizabeth Peightal, Beth Finney, Shelby Gerger, and Darren Gerger; as well as 22 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Lowan will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, 11:00 AM at Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 S. Main St., Kellogg, ID.
