Margie Holand, 85, of Kingston, ID, beloved wife, mother,sister,and grandmother, passed away on September 17, 2024 at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, ID. Margie was born June 7, 1939 in Sandpoint, ID to Malon and Margaret Peterson (Waldum). Margie was the youngest of nine children.

She grew up and attended school in Sandpoint. Margie married Kenneth Boylan in 1956 in Sandpoint and moved to Kellogg, ID that same year. They had 4 beautiful daughters, Mary Kay, Patty Ann, Peggy Sue and Cindy Lou. They moved to the family home in Kingston, ID in 1963. Kenny later passed away in 1970. Margie then married her husband of 48 years, Jim Holand, on December 20, 1975 and had their daughter, Jenny Lynn.

Margie worked various jobs in the Silver Valley, bookkeeping, bartending and retail at the old JCPenney’s in Kellogg. In 1981, she and Jim bought the Cataldo Inn where she managed and operated the business until her retirement in 1990. She also did all the bookkeeping for their logging business, H. J. Holand Logging in Kingston, ID. She was also an outstanding bowler in her younger years. Her league of ladies would travel to bowling tournaments all over, making many fun memories with her friends.

Margie enjoyed playing any kind of card game, especially cribbage. She and her daughters would play cribbage every chance they got, anywhere, anytime. Her greatest passion and love were her family.

Margie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Brandon, and 4 brother and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Holand at their family home in Kingston; her daughters, Mary Kay Phelps (Kingston), Patty Adams (Eagle River, AK), Peggy and Allan Derbyshire (Kingston), Cindy and Mitch Magnus (Hayden, ID) and Jenny Rollins (Kellogg); 10 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and 2 great- great-grandchildren; her sister Jeanne Piehl of Sandpoint, ID; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations or flowers be donated to The Schneidmiller Hospice House in Margie’s memory. Private family services will be held.
