Norman James Owen, 92, passed away on June 1, 2026 at Kootenai Health Hospital in Coeur d’Alene, ID with his sons, daughters in-law, granddaughter, and his pastor, Rick Kahlbau, by his side. He was born October 8, 1933 in Billings, MT to John L. Owen and Helen J. Foster. He was married for 64 years to the love of his life, JoAnne Grace (Armstrong) Owen on December 18, 1954 in Alameda, CA. She passed away February 21, 2019 in Kellogg, ID. They had lived in Reno, NV for over 20 years and then traveled all over the country beginning in 1997 in their RV before moving to Idaho in April 2017.

He played the french horn in the Air National Guard Marching Band for the inauguration of President Eisenhower.

Norm was a very caring and involved father to his two sons, coaching them during all the years of their Little League baseball years and on up, camping, fishing, making many more wonderful memories along the way.

Norm worked and retired from Stemco as the General Manager. Before that, he was a salesman and then the service manager for Hobart for many years. In his early years, he delivered milk.

He was a loving man who cared for the people he was around. He often took family and friends out to lunch at Elmer’s, Texas Roadhouse, and Denny’s.

Norm was greatly loved by his church family at Calvary Chapel of Coeur d’Alene, ID. His pastor said he would encourage and exhort many within the congregation.

He is survived by his two sons, James “Brian” Owen (Valerie) of Hayden, ID, and Dennis Allen Owen (Stella) of Kellogg, ID; his grandchildren, Crystal Owen Holloway (James) of Spokane Valley, WA, Dale Owen of Hayden, ID, Michael Owen of North Dakota, and Samantha Owen of Minnesota; his great-grandchildren include Novalee and Kira Holloway and Neveah and Braelynn Owen. Norm is also survived by his sister in-law, Elaine Owen; and his nephews, Steven and Michael Owen from California.

Memorial services will be held in August at Calvary Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, ID with Pastor Rick Kahlbau officiating.
