Ronald Dean McCracken, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 19th at the age of 87. Born June 15, 1938, in Lewiston, Idaho, to Cecil and Inez McCracken, Ron lived a life marked by a strong work ethic, dedication, and deep love for his family and the outdoors.
Ron proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, where he earned his GED and began a path of lifelong learning. After his military service, he pursued his passion for wildlife and conservation, earning a degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Montana. He later continued his education at the University of Idaho, where he earned his teaching credentials and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
Ron dedicated his professional life to education, working as both a teacher and principal, making a lasting impact on the lives of countless students and colleagues.
An avid outdoorsman, Ron found joy and peace in nature. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and camping—activities that reflected his spirit and deep appreciation for the natural world.
More than anything, Ron cherished his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life, and he took great pride in each of them.
