Shane Victor Cordeau

December 16, 1986 – June 3, 2025

Shane was 38 when he unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from diabetic ketoacidosis. Shane was born December 16, 1986, in Sun Valley, Idaho – a beautiful place to grow up, with skiing in his backyard. He spent much of his youth skiing on Dollar and Bald Mountain with his dad, mom, sister, and friends.

The youngest of two children, he grew up enjoying the Wood River Valley lifestyle while testing the limits of the Blaine County and Park City Winter school districts. Shane’s love and athleticism for soccer, golf, waterskiing and fly fishing gave him joy and solace but most of all he loved to ski. Skiing was his art, and he was magical on the mountain. He was an accomplished freestyle skiing competitor, coach, and US Ski Team member. Shane made and kept friends wherever he went. He had a beautiful smile, laugh, and was a free spirit that brought joy and love to all he knew. The one constant is how Shane could change the whole room when he came in. It immediately became lighter, happier, and so much funnier. Shane was genuine and a good friend with a loyal heart. He was the whole to another’s half, a second big brother, and “Shane…buddy”. Shane worked in the Wood River Valley at various restaurants and ski shops, painted lift towers, condos, and homes with his dad’s company, was a fly fishing guide, ski coach, and ski instructor.

In 2021 Shane moved to Kellogg, Idaho where his parents relocated and his sister was close by. He worked typical ski town jobs – ski instructing, mountain shop employee, bike mechanic and ultimately earned his EPA Certification. He loved his EPA experiences and training, operating heavy equipment and hazardous clean up after the LA fires. Shane helped plan and work on the house that was to be his own.

Shane is survived by his parents, Barb and Joey Cordeau; sister, Christine Cordeau; aunts, uncles, cousins, his beloved dog, Squid, and many friends that loved him. What a blessing to know he has been relieved of his burdens and gone to live a vibrant, loving life of joy and happiness with loved ones.

Ski on Shane!
