Steven “Todd” Schonewald, 69, of Kellogg, ID, passed away on February 4, 2026 at his home in Kellogg. Todd was born on June 3, 1956 in Wallace, ID, a son of Tim and JoAnn (Rieken) Schonewald.

Todd worked at the Lucky Friday Mine in Mullan, ID as an underground miner for 39 years before his retirement.

Todd was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting arrowheads, and spending time at the lake.

He is survived by his three children, Josh (Wella) McCloud, Jessica (Steve) Grimmett, and Jodi (Chris) Sawyer; ten grandchildren, Madysen, Baylee, Daisy, Kolton, Lilly, Easton, Kelan, Addie, Becket, and JP (aka “Little Stevie); his mother, JoAnn Schonewald; three siblings, Doug, Chris, and Blair; and many friends whom he considered family. Todd is preceded in death by his father and hero, Tim Schonewald.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, 2:00 PM at Mountain View Congregational Church in Kellogg, ID with a celebration of his life following at the Country Barn Bed and Breakfast in Cataldo, ID.
