Susan Ann Griffith

March 3, 1941 — February 7, 2024

Pinehurst, Idaho

A long-time Silver Valley resident and community member, Susan Ann Griffith, 82, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024 due to complications from pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

She was born on March 3, 1941, in Eugene, Oregon, to the late Noud family. She graduated from St. Francis Catholic High School in Eugene, Oregon in 1959, and later went on to study nursing where she earned her Degree from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Eugene to become an RN. Her successful career as a caregiver spanned more than 50 years in California and Idaho. In 1976, Sue relocated with her family to Coeur d’Alene from California and in 1979 moved to Kellogg where she and her husband Dusty took ownership of a local Coast to Coast Hardware Store (now ACE Hardware).

People that knew Sue would describe her as warm, open and welcoming with a contagious laugh and a kind and caring heart. She loved life and being with friends. Whether on vacation in Mexico, or “up the river” at the family’s river property on the Coeur d’Alene River, Sue was always a gracious hostess! She gave her time and support to volunteer with the Shriner’s and for years was involved with the Wallace Lady Elks. In 2018, she became the oldest certified and licensed Volunteer EMT on record in the state of Idaho at the age of 76, working with the Pritchard Fire Department.

Sue is survived by two sons, Todd Griffith and his wife Shari of Westminster, Maryland, and Craig Griffith of Kellogg, Idaho. She was also a proud grandmother to Dustin Griffith of Osburn, Idaho, Brooke Griffith of Frederick, Maryland, Courtney Griffith of Leesburg, VA, and Christopher Griffith of Kansas City, Missouri. In March of 2023, Sue celebrated the birth of her first great- grandchild, Craig Dustin Griffith, of Osburn, Idaho.

Sue’s life was preceded in death by her parents Betty and Patrick Noud, her sister Mary Pat Hagedorn, and her beloved husband, Dustin ”Dusty” Griffith, of Kellogg, Idaho, who passed away in 2010. The family now celebrates their long-awaited reunion.

No funeral services are planned at Sue’s request, and a summertime celebration of life will be announced to friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Pritchard Volunteer Fire Department.

Shoshone Funeral Services in Kellogg, Idaho, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memories of Sue and messages of condolence may be shared online with her family at www.shoshonefuneralserivice.com.  Please join us in remembering and celebrating the life of Sue Griffith. She touched so many throughout her life. She will be missed by those that knew and loved her.

“If my parting has left a void, then fill it up with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.” - I’m Free
