Tana Rainio

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, Tana L. (Nearing) Rainio, 61, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away September 9, 2013 at the Hospice House of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. She was born December 25, 1951 at Kellogg, Idaho; Tana was the daughter of Gene and LuElla (Miles) Nearing.

Tana attended and graduated from the Kellogg High School in 1970; while attending Kellogg High, she served as a cheerleader. Tana also attended the North Idaho College and Lewis-Clark State College.

Tana married Raymond Rainio on July 21, 1974 at the United Church of Kellogg.

Tana had served in financial administration and fire business for the U.S. Forest Service. She started her career at the Kingston Ranger Station; she then went to work for the Shoshone Work Center of the Forest Service; she transferred to the Wallace Ranger District and then to the Coeur d’ Alene Nursery as part of the Forest Service. Tana then transferred to the Fernan Ranger District and lastly before her retirement, she had worked at the Idaho Panhandle National Forests Supervisor’s Office. Tana was very much loved by her Forest Service family.

Tana was a former member of the Idaho Lookout Ski Patrol for fifteen plus years; she was also a member of the Crazy Quilters. Tana loved and enjoyed her family, quilting, stamping, spending time at the river, gardening and traveling.

Tana is survived by her husband Raymond Rainio of the family home of Cataldo; two children Aaron (Angela) Rainio of Smelterville, Idaho and Casey (Jeremie) Figueroa of Cataldo; nine grandchildren Steele, Hunter, Jakob, Piper, Ramsey, Tucker, Tanner, Jaron and Aiden; her mother LuElla Nearing of Kingston; two brothers Dennis “Denny” and his companion Myrna of Aberdeen, Washington and Scott (Debbie) Nearing of Kingston; one sister Charlott (Bruce) Casady of North Pole, Alaska; her best friend Teresa Crow of Sterling, Alaska; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Tana was preceded in death by her father Gene Nearing and an infant brother Freddie Nearing.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mountain View Congregational Church (formerly the United Church of Kellogg). A reception will be held at Noah’s Loft of the Silver Mountain Resort following services; everyone is welcome.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Hospice House, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, Idaho 83835.
