Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Velma “Dutch” Taylor, 89, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away September 13, 2013, at the Regency Courtyard of Pinehurst. She was born February 26, 1924 at Hugo, Oklahoma; Dutch was the daughter of Lim and Cleo Myrtle (Skaggs) Smalley.

Dutch married Robert H. Taylor on December 16, 1939 at Marietta, Oklahoma; Robert passed away on June 19, 2013.

Dutch and her beloved husband Robert moved to the Silver Valley in 1954 from Oklahoma.

Dutch was a “Homemaker Extraordinaire” and had served as a housekeeper for Dr. Robert Staley for several years.

Dutch was a member of the Pinehurst Senior’s Club and the Pinehurst Community Baptist Church.

Dutch loved and enjoyed gardening with her husband, canning their garden vegetables and fruit, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. She also quilted, making beautiful old-fashioned block quilts. Dutch also loved spending time with her family and friends. She adored her grandchildren and most recently her great-grandchildren; Dutch was very much looking forward to the impending birth of her latest great-grandchild and she had a feeling this baby would be a boy.

Dutch is survived by one son, Dan (Carla) Taylor of Post Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and two sons, R.L. Taylor and Charles Taylor.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg, Idaho, with Pastor Corey Berti officiating.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Silver Valley Fuller Center for Housing (formerly Silver Valley Habitat for Humanity), P.O. Box 874, Kellogg, Idaho 83837 or to the charity of the Donor’s choice.
