Donna Mcmackin

November 3, 1941 — May 26, 2019

Donna Mae McMackin, 77

Donna Mae McMackin, 77, passed away peacefully at her Kingston home, surrounded by loved ones, on May 26, 2019. Donna was born in Bismarck, North Dakota to William and Hazel (Herr) Weaver. They moved to Butte, Montana and resided there for most of her childhood.

Donna moved to the Silver Valley in the 60’s where she worked as a waitress at Whities in uptown Kellogg. That is where she met her future husband of 42 years, Darrell McMackin.

Donna grew to love the Silver Valley because of its beautiful scenery, but more so because of the people that she met along the way.

Her dearest friend “Doodie” became family and her name sake, Donna (Freeman) Durick became not only her god-daughter but “her” daughter. She considered Cami, Ryan, and Carli Durick her grandkids. One of her many joys were letting them circle everything they wanted out of the Penney’s catalog and the joy and excitement they gave her when they opened them all at Christmas. She gleamed with so much joy from her relationship with Donna and the kids, often bragging about their achievements and accomplishments.

Donna worked as a cook and waitress her whole life, owning the Silver Valley Café in Smelterville to Snip and Dales up until her retirement. She had a reputation for being hard working and efficient. She loved many of her customers!

Donna enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, and fishing, but most especially she loved card games, especially a good old game of pinochle.

Donna is survived by her loving god-daughter, Donna (Freeman) Durick (Aaron Bengtson); Cami; Ryan and Carlie Durick; sisters, Corrine (Steve) Logston, Deanna Burcham, Geraldine (Jake) Gregg; and loving nephew, Jay (Lisa) Logston; along with several other nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and William Weaver, best friend, Doodie (Freemen) Morfin, husband, Darrell (Dee) McMackin; sister Cheryl Rich and her still-born son, Rance William, who she grieved greatly all her life, after commenting she wished she would have had the chance to at least hold him one more time. It is a comfort to know that is exactly what she is doing right now and that her broken heart is finally completely filled with Joy.

At her request, no services will be held. Her ashes will be buried at the Bauman Addition Cemetery.
