Frederick Ross

November 19, 1938 — June 13, 2022

Frederick Allen Ross, 83, of Osburn, ID, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 13, 2022 at Mountain Valley of Cascadia in Kellogg, ID. Fred was born on November 19, 1938 in Seattle, WA, the son of the late Frederick James Ross and Virginia Leicht Ross.

After graduating from high school, Fred attended the University of Washington, a member of Delta Chi fraternity.  Fred went on to become a News/Sports Director and broadcaster for television and radio stations across the U.S.  Fred married Carol Ann Smith on July 17, 1970 in Auburn, WA.  At that time Fred was the News Director of KTAC radio in Tacoma and a volunteer fireman for Auburn fire department.  In 1976 they moved to Omak, WA. where they owned and operated a Montgomery Wards store. In 1988 Fred and Carol retired and moved to the Silver Valley.  They both enjoyed spending winters in their motorhome in Yuma, AZ, where they were known as Broadcaster and Blue Bird to their many snowbird friends.

Fred had a deep love for dogs and he was never without one by his side!  He enjoyed watching UW Huskies and Seattle Seahawks football as well as Chicago Cubs baseball, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Carol, who passed away in 2019.

Survivors include his two daughters, Shelley Henderson (Keith Huffman) of Hillsboro, OR, and Debbie (Rich) Kochanuski of Clifton Park, NY; two granddaughters, Kayla Kochanuski and Corrie Kochanuski, both of Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Bill (Nancy) Ross of Wenatchee, WA; nieces, Debbie (Lars) Landrie and Pamela (Mike) Mattingly; and a nephew, Jim (Shelly) Ross.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in memory of Fred Ross to your local animal shelter or the national ASPCA.
