Jimmy Hansen

Jimmy Leroy Hansen, 75, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2021 in Spokane

Washington. Jimmy was born in Missoula, Montana to Forrest and Agnes (Bramson) Hansen on

August 5, 1945. As a boy, Jimmy moved to Idaho with his family from Butte, Montana, and he

lived in the Silver Valley most of his life.

Jimmy served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1963.

Over the years Jimmy worked several jobs. He worked at the Burns Yaak Mill in Osburn, Idaho

and he was a miner in both the silver mines in Idaho's Silver Valley and in the mines near Jeffrey

City, Wyoming. He worked for the Bessemer Michigan Housing Authority as a maintenance man

and he also was a house painter in Bessemer and in his hometown of Osburn, Idaho. He then

worked for Water’s Garbage of Osburn, Idaho until his retirement.

Jimmy was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He

loved the great outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family.

With his strong fighting spirit he earned the nickname of “Popeye”. He was a fighter until the

very end.

On June 9, 2001, Jimmy was united in marriage to Lana Gray in Post Falls, Idaho. Lana sadly

passed away on November 6, 2011. In addition to his wife Lana, he is preceded in death by his

parents Forrest and Agnes Hansen and by his siblings Shirley Mace, Emory Hansen, Hazel Smith,

Sharon Messmer, Carolyn Huffman, and Glenn Malloy.

Jimmy is survived by his four children, Leah (Steve) Van Curler, Kenneth (Christine) Hansen,

Rebecca (Chris) Harrison and Jamie (Nate) Tappa; four step-children Lisa (Dan) Miller, Teri Vest,

Billy (Kristi) Bailey and Kevin Bailey; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jimmy is also survived by his siblings Diane Patton, Sandra Jones, Gerry Gay Curl, Sherry Stack,

Raymond Hansen, Penny Roberts, Cindy Hartley, Laurie Littleton, Linda Habben, Janice Sullivan,

and numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Jimmy's wishes, cremation will take place; a celebration of his life will be held at

a later date this summer.
