Louise Mildred Sheppard, 92

Louise Mildred Sheppard, 92, of the Silver Valley passed away on February 14, 2021 on Valentine’s Day at the Good Samaritan Society of Silverton, Idaho. She was born on May 20, 1928 near Meeker Colorado. She was the daughter of William & Mildred (Stomaugh) Reynolds.

At a young age Louise moved with her family to Salmon, Idaho where she spent most of her childhood.

Louise married George Ben Sheppard on January 7, 1946 in Hamilton Montana. Together they raised four sons. In 1957 Louise and George moved to Post Falls and later to the Silver Valley in 1961. Louise and George celebrated 67 years of marriage before Ben’s passing in 2012.

Louise owned and managed two Gem & Mineral businesses in Wallace. She also helped manage the Wallace District Art Center with several other volunteers for nearly 25 years. Louise had a passion for art and loved teaching art in the Silver Valley and later at the View Point Resort in Meza, Arizona where she snow birded for 12 winters.

Louise was a member of the Wallace Study Club, the VFW Auxiliary, Wallace Area Zonta’s, the Silver Valley Arts & Crafts group. She was also a member of the Mountain View Congregational Church of Kellogg and later joined the Cornerstone of Osburn, Idaho in 2017.

Louise is survived by three sons Ben (Monica) Sheppard, Dennis “Rusty” Sheppard and Patrick (Shannon) Sheppard and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece Nita (Steve) Buhl and her nephew Merl (Laura) Buhl. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, her son Steven, two sisters, one brother and a grandson.

A Celebration of Louise’s Life will be held this summer.
